In April, Perpetua Resources (Nasdaq: PPTA) (TSX: PPTA) has received a letter of interest from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) for a potential debt financing of up to $1.8 billion to help develop its proposed gold mine in northern Idaho.
Perpetua has gold and antimony. This is a massive amount for a mine that will go into commercial production in 2028 if not later. Perpetua has about 70,000 of antimony, similar to what LRV has got.
The US need antimony faster than 2028 - with under US$100m project finance, they can expedite antimony at Hillgrove.
The more I read about this, my conviction gets stronger! And, unlike Australia, getting mining approval in the US is very difficult and I think for the US to domestically produce antimony, it will take beyond 2028.
