How about you consider that Hamas is deemed to be a terrorist organization with a mission statement to destroy Israel, and that the tunnels and weapons were specifically built, bought and used for that mission.

While Hamas has only existed since 1987, less than forty years, some tunnels in Gaza have existed for more than 2000 years.

They are believed to be a part of a hidden city that is estimated to be over two thousand years old. However, the excavation work is complicated by the blockade of Gaza and there is also the constant risk of being hit by an Israeli rocket targeting a modern tunnel.

And keep in mind that it was the Hamas leadership that planned and carried out the attack on Israel and its citizens that precipitated the reaction they got from Israel
