Going by doubts expressed by Pfizer it is unlikely that Australian parents will be obliged to have children under 12 vaccinated with mRNA vaccines any time soon.
There has however been significant research on mRNA vaccines in the past 20 years and how they work is well understood.
Covid is evolving rapidly and if it continues to become more benign vaccination could quickly become a non issue.
But knowing what is available and how it's best used is a prudent strategy in case covid does come up with more lethal variants.
So far I think vaccines have provided older people significant protection and they have bought us the time to debate more sensitive issues involving children as well as the long term effects on adults.
