Well I support the merger and I've instructed my super fund to vote any shares they hold as trustee for me in favour of it. Everyone else should find out whether their fund holds Amcom shares and provide a similar instruction.

But it's a bit lame for Amcom and Vocus to rail against TPG for attempting to block the merger. This is what the share market is for! So you can buy an interest in a company, share in it's profitability (or otherwise), and influence its operation. TPG have clearly decided that a combined Amcom/Vocus operation represents a greater competitive threat than the two operating individually. The block also holds the option open for TPG to make an offer at sometime in the future, probably at a lower rate than counter-bidding against Vocus.

We were travelling fine before the merger proposal emerged. Amcom has always paid a delicious dividend, and it was making inroads into the Eastern States by itself. There are plenty of worse things that could happen!
