re the number of users... first announcement in July states 500,000 per DAY... second announcement in Nov seems to have revised it to 700,000 per WEEK.... still impressive numbers though. If you could reach a targeted audience of your demographic of say (after filtering for sex & age)10,000 people a day, it'd probably be worth $15K. Especially if you can provide sales coupons that people can use while they're in the city.

It's similar to the lolly shelf at the local supermarket checkout, they put it there because they know it'll trigger the 'I can have it right now' instinct.
Give people a coupon for a discount right when they're near your shop, will probably prompt more people to pop in and check it out. As opposed to putting a coupon in a magazine and the customer thinking 'euugh, it sounds ok but I really can't be bothered going into the city...'
