The thing I find disturbing is the continual shifting of the ground with respect to upcoming initiatives. Initially, the WiFi was to target 500,000 users. In the last chairmans address, it was going to target 700,000. The figures just keep going up.
11/07/2011:
Netbay’s free WiFi service is expected to be rolled out in the December quarter of this
year to a number of high traffic locations in Melbourne estimated initially to have about
500,000 users per day. The addition of Netbay’s WiFi service user traffic is expected to
expand GoConnect’s aggregate online network audience reach towards the target of one
million users before year end 2011.
18/11/2011:
In July this year, GoConnect entered into an advertising representation agreement with
Netbay Internet and partner with them to deliver advertising to free WiFi hotspots to be
operated by Netbay Internet in a number of high traffic locations. The first number of
locations will have traffic of over 700,000 people weekly in Melbourne. GoConnect’s
experience and technology gained through the operation of the free ISP will be equally
applicable to the free WiFi hotspots to be operated by Netbay Internet. The launch of the
Netbay Internet free WiFi service is expected to commence towards the end of December
this year and with GoConnect’s support, will lead to the creation of a new but the single
largest media platform for the City of Melbourne with a user reach estimated to be up to
700,000 people weekly upon full penetration during 2012.
