    I'm a CA, having qualified back in the mid 90's.

    The profesion is changing enormously at the moment. Clients are demanding lower prices for non value-added services (ie year end compliance work)

    Many accouting firms are seeking to lower their cost structures by outsourcing to offshore providers, generally operating out of India. This comes at the expense of employing local staff.

    Cloud based technology is also enabling real time updating of client data rather than waiting until the end of the year.

    It will be intersting to see where the profession goes over the next 20 years. To survive in public pracice, one needs to be able to add value.

    One thing is for sure though - we will still be boring!
