I believe in some parts of the world, plastics are replacing copper.... if copper is used for the pipes, silver solder (5% plus silver) is used, has a slightly lower melting point than copper.... Incredible how durable the copper is.... time will tell how durable the plastic pipes are.... I think a lot of the plastics are not (sufficiently?) UV stabilized and so will deteriorate in the sun.... I was looking at using some plastic pipe running between some solar panels... but wasn't sure how the plastic pipe would stand up to the harsh Australian sun.
Don't know, what do you plumbers reckon?
Noticed they use large polyetheylene pipes to supply mains water.... and we use PVC pipes for waste...
