The simple fact is if directors are allowed to get away with telling lies then the whole market collapses which it can do and may do over time re: GFC.
If I knew directors were lying then I would sell. Simple as that.
The trouble is that the legacy of the GFC has proved that there is a large percentage of liars and cheats out there and they have not gone away. The market has become pretty much a casino.
Don't dishearten yourself by reading the US Government report on the GFC. If you're young you'll be shocked , if you're old it just reinforces what you always thought.
You are either ethical or not there is no in between.
The only consolation I can offer is that the cheats and liars usually die young...but not always.
