""Overall, group production has been in decline and no meaningful increase to reserves has as yet been achieved. The life of the Davyhurst operation will likely be extended to at least 2007 due to a toll milling deal done with Siberia Mining Limited. This will give CRS some breathing space in which to hopefully make new discoveries. Drill results at Norseman point to the likely addition of life for the operation but it is hard to see the reserve figure growing significantly. Gold is sourced from narrow but very high-grade quartz reefs over considerable strike lengths. The impracticality of drilling out narrow resources to reserve status has seen the operation consistently run with around 2-3 years of underground reserve life.

Including Norseman, CRS has total treatment capacity of 2.5mtpa although 0.6mtpa of this will become idle when the Hannan South plant is decommissioned by the current quarter’s end. The company needs to deliver a major discovery from its extensive exploration portfolio in and around the Kalgoorlie region and soak up some of the excess plant capacity.

Cash reserves remain strong at A$21.5m and debt sits at A$4.4m. This is in spite of a March quarter exploration spend of A$3m and pre strips on two new open pits. The healthy balance sheet sees CRS primed for acquisition opportunities.""
