I was going to suggest an anode too....
We have a submersible bilge pump hanny - and anodes all over the boat!
Not a metallurgist, so can't help on a technical basis, but yes, more than one grade of stainless - and it must be 316 -
Stainless is a myth - I've got a fair bit of 'supposed' stainless with rust on it!
