    The most recent similar correction in gold was May 2006.

    Gold had risen sharply to $725 and then corrected to $568 in a matter of a few weeks. This was a fall of about 21%. Gold didn't pass the $725 level for about another 16 months. The HUI Gold Index fell from 401 on 11th May to a low of 270 on 13th June which is a 32% fall.
