We also look after the road edge, a couple of hundred metres for our neighbours, who are a bit older than us. And our common boundaries. It's nice to see a lovely swathe as you drive up the hill. By doing this we also have got rid of the weed trees and grasses that blow onto our property, so we do benefit as well.
Our property is bordered by a horseshoe-shaped road that also encompasses road reserve that the council do not look after at all. We also asked them if it was OK to start to clear and revegetate it and they were fine with that as long as we stuck to the list of trees endemic to our area. Glad we started 10 years ago. Would have been a bit overwhelming had we just started now. Always have something to tackle outside.
