Bought a new cordless drill today. Bosch 18v. Compared to my last drill this one has serious grunt. I wouldn't have believed how powerful they can be if I didn't try myself. A couple of interesting observations. The drill was of course using a lithium battery. The instruction booklet warns that if a liquid leaks from the drill, presumably the lithium, then don't touch it. There is no power loss to the battery whilst left idle. And the drill cost a couple times more than my last drill. Now if that drill had a vanadium battery then itvwould possibly be even more powerful. It wouldn't be toxic. And the battery would also not lose power and probably last longer than the lithium battery. Is this a case of getting your technology to the market first and leaving a place for competitors or are we still waiting for the next battery technology winner to be decided?
