corporate action - target 50c-60c David Williams has acquired a strategic stake in Australian skateboard and streetwear group, Globe International. On 24 July 2003, Williams, the Sydney businessman who heads Mariner Corporate Finance, bought a five per cent stake in Globe and is keen to begin negotiations with the company's controlling stakeholders, brothers Peter and Stephen Hill. However, it is believed that Just Jeans may have also acquired a five per cent stake in Globe, which could thwart Williams' negotiations with the Hill brothers. Just Jeans CEO, Howard McDonald, has categorically denied that the jeans company has bought a stake in Globe. Globe shares closed $A0.02 higher at $A0.28 on 24 July.
