Well the payout is nothing to do with the drop.
What they did was in reality a compulsory buyback of one share in five. They made it look complicated because of Guernsey tax law or some bogus thing.
The drop since that deal was finished is a real drop caused apparently by the "financial crisis" or possibly evaporation of the notion that HGI is a takeover target any time soon.
