Interesting comment PMAM, Chile is listed third most desirable place to invest at least mining wise worldwide and imagine it is higher than Australia in recent times given government taxes and indecisions. Chile is fully supportive of companies mining their resources as this drives their economy and they have been a stable country for since Pinochet left in 1990.
They have the highest mining wages in South America at an average of $97k USD. They are in the top 40 countries in terms of GDP worldwide which is not bad for a country of 17m people and their PPP purchasing price parity seems to be the highest in South American and is above Russia etcetera.
