andy broady, its not the point aobut earnings and profit, its the FEAR factor and what it can do to a share price. Greed comes in but FEAR can really drive a market fast.

Typical example is today. The whole world bar the U.S. has sold on nothing but FEAR. Over time we'll see this FEAR factor play a big factor on where this market ends up. If the U.S. market takes a cue form the rest of the world, the fear will feed itself.

As some investment guy on comsec on thee TV said, we need a circuit breaker, something to jump start the market out of the spiral. Will a fed 1% cut be enough, or will it just stave off the inevitable decline.

I would love to see a bounce, a breather, at least a few days so that people bulls and bears can take stock of the situation, the days action during this bounce, the volume of shares traded and the momentum will all give us clues on what the next phase will be.
