If the price continues to rise over next few days/weeks, these shorters will likely start covering their positions.
To do that they have to buy shares.
Can give a nice boost to the price action.

They can provide a good demand for the stock independant of any news flow since they just want to conserve the profits from their short, and maybe even go long to gain from any upside.
