I have a business proposition for you. Here’s the deal:
I’ve arranged an opportunity for you to do business with Rob; I know you like Rob because he’s been a business partner of yours for some time.
He runs a business where he makes money out of money!
Since he is better than the average Joe, he charges a higher service fee than Joe.
Joe’s business earns $11 per year but will pay you only $10 per year (as he keeps $1 for himself).
Rob’s business earns $15 per year. In fact, Rob charges a much higher fee of $3 every year! Consequently, his clients receive only $12 each per year.
Rob thinks he is justified in charging much higher fees because he is so good at what he does that his clients are better off financially when they patronise (read “frequent” versus “condescend to”) his business.
However, in order to maintain the superior quality of his products, he offers his business to a limited number of customers only.
By the way, don’t feel obliged, as all the seats at the table are already full, but if you’re interested in joining in, it’s easy usually to arrange a swap with one of the current investors from 10-4 on business days.
Would you prefer Rob or would you rather stick with the average Joe?
