If I was in the SIAC info team's position and had the authority to do it, I would have attempted a XREF search between coy names and cases and provided some good old fashioned "customer service".
If they are/were not in a position to divulge any information, then just state that fact, and "I would not have thought that was strange".
As for asking POH for the case number, well pull the other one.
