Manouevering for a possible spill and then a Non-Exec. position?
If it eventuates, you might as well put up your hand, unless others are circling.
I've seen come remarkable transformations post-spill or sig. negotiations pre-spill.
Need many with cash though, more so, a boutique type (at worst) broker, following others in.
