Fighting amongst the landowner groups is documented in the COA right back to 1992 when they first proposed mining on the land.

there was a long series of appeals and court battles for 10 years or so then. AVQ/SMM is only the latest in a series of fighting over this area of land.

I would say the fueding and disputes are generational IMO.

I think the attempt to convert the land from customary land to registered title and then lease it to Axiom directly was a clever idea and an attempt to try and cut through all these never ending disputes and provide some forward movement.

This of course was all unwound by the appeals court and we are back to starting again.

We may have "applied" for a PL but I would say that was a matter of process and cosmetic rather than anything meaningful. The reality is we will have to wait for the Tender documents and then put our application in addressing all the as yet unknown tender requirements.

Hopefully if we are the successful tenderer we can then start the process of negotiating the SAA.

    Tiresome stuff.
