I agree. We are ripped off by people with import monopolies.
I had a chrysler car. They are the same the world over. The fuel pump failed. Cost of item at service agent over $1,500 but I needed a new one straight away. Cost in the USA under $500 for the same item from the same factory.
I complained to the agent. He said they have to buy them from the distributor in Singapore.
There is a chain of rent seekers who hold monopolies.

The car was great but I would never buy another Chrysler.
