I saw the original reports, but have so far not been able to find 'official' mention of an appeal on the Bureau Of Land Management web site, either the National or Utah versions.
I would have thought there would be somewhere where such an appeal would be listed, but perhaps it will only appear when a decision is handed down. If anyone else has found mention of the appeal on the BLM site, please let us know.
From the information available the mine preparation is ongoing, and has not been halted by this process. Thus, even if the appeal causes a short delay in the formal approval the company should still be fully ready to go once the green light is given.
Given how thorough the process was leading up to the initial mine approval, and the number of environmental objections that were considered by the BLM, it would be a major shock if the appeal were successful, and as others have posted, would likely pave the way for legal action on the part of WCU.
The next month should see us gain a clearer idea of exactly where the company is placed along the path to becoming a producer rather than explorer. The mine should be close to operational, the appeal process close to completion, and hopefully a sales agreement will be in place.
Lets just hope I'm right, and that this news is all good!
