TDA is correct in that Friday afteroon trading was to do with the ASX 300. As happened with the Russell 3000 in the States, a number of institutions in Australia are required to obtain a certain amount of shares in all stocks listed in the ASX300. The deadline to do this was on Friday. Most of these shares go through on, or after, close. The same thing happened with the Russell 3000 a few weeks ago
