I'm sitting at about a 4:1 profit ratio with a max drawdown of 0.2- 0.3%
profit ends up being about 6-8% per year

hopefully it improves once i can learn to define support and resistance areas

Hi, which platform are you using for this?

Basically the smoother and steeper the equity curve the better. This can be measured by Sharpe ratio, CARMDD and a few other metrics.

I see IG has just introduced algo trading for retail in Aus this week.
