I too took 3-4 months to get the right diagnosis but once I had the op I walked out of the hospital and could basically walk hop jump and dance within days. Of course I did not as I wanted to give it a chance to heal. I never really did any of the excersises except the leg lifts for about a week. I am now 100%. Of course it does depend on how much cartlidge was taken out. Mine was 30%.
