Anyone Calling Sub $2 for QANTAS ?, page-1224

Kind of explains why your bullish about REX ...... should REX enter the fray and try taking on Qantas they may just become a target for Qantas in the next few years . They will take on millions in debt just to get a few aircraft and lets not forget that currently they would hold ZERO spares for those aircraft ( which will be millions more in cost ) ZERO engineers with necessary licenses and approvals , Pilots and cabin crew fully trained and licensed on 737 or A320 , on top of this they will need much better computer systems and terminal space in MEL / BNE / SYD which doesn't come cheap even if they can get it . Add to this the cost of employing the necessary ground staff and training them and it all adds up a formidable amount . Personally i hope they can become a player as it is always good to have competition and with Virgin moving to a lower cost base model if REX was ever going to try to make a move now is the best time, BUT to take on Qantas on established routes is going to be a very big gamble.
