    Asf they do have a look to see if you are genuine... if they get the impression you bought assets on credit with the intention of not paying the debt back, despite having the capability to do so, they would go through the courts, and in addition to having to pay the money back one would also probably be charged with embezzlement or fraud.

    I'm sure many people have gotten away with exactly what you described - but it's a white collar crime no different to siphoning company funds into a personal account.

    If it's premeditated you run the risk of a criminal record and jail time - but people still do it of course.
