If they are worthy of being on the FML board or ANY board, they will see this as a motivating factor. No share holder wants a board who cuts and runs at the first sign of backlash or trouble (and they would NEVER get a job of worth anywhere else). They would also understand the basic principles of reward and consequence. Unfortunately for them AND all shareholders, we've seen the negative side of this in terms of the drop in shareholder value and now the associated drop in confidence and therefore board remuneration.
I don't think anyone doubts the long term success of the company, but NOT all shareholders are long term, so the board have a responsibility to perform to the needs of ALL holders. It just means they need to improve the balance and a little tinkering will go a long way to pleasing the short-termers (who seem to be driving the anger) as well as the long term holders.
