EnergySafety will release a report today of an audit of 260 household solar panels which reveals a staggering rate of botched jobs, many of which are either an immediate or long-term safety risk. In WA, the report found 12% were incorrectly wired and posed a potential fire hazard. 11% had wires which were not properly protected and a further 27% had minor defects.

In total, 50% had some form of defect. Massive demand for solar panels were enticing unqualified and inexperienced operators into the market. A large portion of work is done by unlicensed electrical contractors.

The lesson to be learnt here is, stuff the subsidies and avoid ALL Gov subsidy schemes. From car gas conversions, insulation to solar panels they are ALL a FAIL. No one overseas the regulatory requirements of any scheme. Your car will blow up as your house catches fire, no thanks.

I hope every company involved goes bankrupt. Obviously, the legitimate operators will suffer. The right thing to do would be to 'shame' the dodgy companies so consumers can avoid serious loss of life.

It's best to forgo any Gov subsidy scheme, wait for the hype to go away and then but.

Can you imagine the Carbon Tax alleged Green Machine Industry? Watch for the avalanche of shoddy industries opening up. GUARANTEED to have the same dodgy operators.
