LOL! Dad tried it in Rochdale, England in 1963. Bought in 1959 for GBP1,800. Put it on the market in '63 for 1,900. Couldn't sell it. Naturally bombarded by agents full of the usual "we'll sell it for you, get a better price etc."
Finally put it in the hands of an agent who sold it within days for 2,100.
However, we are doomed to make the same mistakes as our fathers, and in the next month or so I will probably put ours on with domain dot com. Don't like the local agents, even the nice ones are too sloppy (the "proposal" got my wife's name, the house number and the street name wrong, and she kept rabbiting on about pest inspections, even though we kept telling her it is a double brick house). Busy designing our ad now, and a lick of paint here and there, and we'll be on the market!
