Just had lunch with a mate who's mum who recently died 3 months after being diagnosed with cancer. It had metastasised so there was nothing that could be done. This comes after the weekend where the Fed Govt agreed to fund PBS to cover 4 cancer drugs for 'rare cancers' where the cost to patients (if not funded) was up to $200K per year! Clearly the drugs offer benefit, a cure in some cases, but it goes to show how drug companies look to recoup their considerable investment in drug development by pricing drugs at sky-high levels. There are swings and roundabouts here for Oncosil- it's a device, not a drug, so arguably the time taken to market is shorter but the world (most notably the US) is so locked into popping a pill to cure ills that an invasive procedure will often face a tougher pathway to adoption and acceptance
