    Senior Project Geologist
Core is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced geologist to manage project-scale exploration at its Finniss Lithium Project, near Darwin in the NT. Core team members need to be able to work in different but complimentary roles, so as to facilitate efficient exploration. The Senior Project Geologist will report to the Exploration Manager and will have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Finniss Project. The Exploration Manager has a broader brief, largely setting strategy and communicating with the project team in relation to objectives, targets, outcomes and procedures.
The role includes a wide-ranging set of responsibilities related to:
    • field geological reconnaissance and mapping
    • planning and implementation of soil sampling programs
    • interpreting disparate datasets and designing effective and efficient exploration and resource drilling programs
    • managing drilling activities, including hole setup, logging, sampling, and "on the fly" conceptualised follow-up drilling
    • supervising field crews and maintaining a good relationship with stakeholders
    • safety and environmental management in all field activities
    • collection and storing of field data
The applicant must have skills commensurate with the responsibilities above and have sufficient fitness in what can be a challenging environment. A working knowledge of GIS and Databases is essential, preferably Mapinfo and Datashed. Current drivers licence and first aid certificate are also essential.
Core is aiming to recommence exploration in the near future, following the wet season, so we aim to fill this position quickly. Field work is expected to involve stints of up to three weeks at site, followed by time at Core's head office in Adelaide or on leave time in lieu. There may be a requirement to shift focus to Core's other projects in the NT and SA from time to time.
The successful applicant will be based in Adelaide, or if more suitable, Darwin.
This is a 12 month full time contract position.
All applications to be in by the 26th April, 2017.
