"23:37 GMT [Dow Jones] Bell Potter starts Apiam Animal Health Ltd. (AHX.AU) at buy with a 1.57 Australian dollars ($1.18) a share price target, partly because it believes the company could be an active participant in consolidation of Australia's fragmented veterinary-care industry. The broker estimates there are 7,000 agricultural veterinarians operating in rural Australia, generating annual turnover of A$2.0 billion. Incorporated in this is a vetchem market worth A$900 million-A$1.0 billion annually, which has been growing at an annual compound rate of 7.2% over the past 30 years, Bell Potter says. "We estimate Apiam has less than 1% share of the veterinary market and 8% of the vetchem market," the broker says. "Apiam is likely to act as a consolidator of the veterinary sector leveraging the benefit of scale in its sales and distribution platform as newly acquired business are integrated into its network."
