evolution is a random event that is characterized by the survival of the fittest. therefore it is encumbent on no one to do anything to benefit the weak since they are doomed by evolution itself.
On the subject of the wealthy and generosity i think one only needs to look at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the generous donation of Warren Buffett to it.
People with lots of money often make great contributions to the welfare of others.
