The fallacy of widespread environmental damage can be proven by reference to a mature CSG industry in the US.

The immediate 30% or so reduction of CO2 emmissions over coal fired generation is proven science.

The generating hardware is off the shelf.

The footprint of a gas fired power station is kiddies size 2 compared to mens size 15 for a coal fired power station.

There is no current affordable greener scalable generating alternative to gas for base load power ... solar and wind are still peaking sources poorly matched temporally and cost wise to base load power.

I prey for the day when we have strong sensible green leadership and activists that aren't hell bent on cutting off their and our noses.
