"On present polling intentions there is no way that Liberal or Labor is ever likely to gain control of the Senate again"

My dear fellow political posters. Firstly I would just like to say what a pleasure it is to engage with you this fine warm Perth evening.
I do hope that the post is taken in the spirit in which it is written and if I do inadvertently offend anyone please accept my apology in advance.
Now if I may respond to Davids excellent post...I hope you don't mind my boldness calling you David without formal introduction, however after all these years I feel I am amongst friends.

and there in lies the rub

If one party has control then they can push through the most outrageous bills. Mr Howard making a jolly fine mess of the work place agreements comes to mind.
If the minors have the power such as independent or Greens it isn't the country that is saved but rather sold in order to get bills past. The tail gets to wag the dog which is just down right unfair in my humble opinion.

Unfortunately I find it easier to see the mistakes rather than propose adequate solutions so I will look forward to viewing the thoughts of fellow esteemed posters from all sides of the political spectrum with a view that collectively we may propose a solution to the issues raised by David.

I look forward to some stimulating posts but please remember the posting limits. It would indeed be most unfortunate to see any more of our brethren depart even for the shortest of times(a tad Christian evangelistic and possibly a bit of a liberty I have taken by referring to members as brethren and if it causes any offence to non Christians I do profusely apologise)
