ok doing my own research have found the following comparisons

Comsec cheaper than others .055% if you do your own trades over the net, but with a min of $14.95, ie a contract value of $27000x .055/100.

So if the banks are traded at 10%, my margin amount is only 2700 on same.

ie, if i have a smaller contract i still get charged 14.95.

c.w. others rates from this link, possibly outdated

    IG .08-.1% (min 8-10)
    MF global .08-.125% (min 8-12.50)
    Sonray .125-.2% (min 20)
    GFT .07-.1% (min 7-10)
    comsec .055-.125% (min 14.95)
(although their web site today says .055-.11)
    Prudential .1% (min 10)
    Brokeronline .08-.125% (min 8-12.5)
    citiindex .1% (min 10)
    Gomarkets .075-.1% (min 1)
    cmc markets .1% (min 10)

Brokerage may be more important if i operate it as a day trade movement.

The banks for instance, move typically 2-3%, leveraged at 10-1, that could be 20-30% return on investment, and all banks i've looked at on their list are shortable and longable.

    Will do some more digging.

    cheers
