Halifax from what I gather is an Introducing broker to Interactive Brokers. There is no difference between trading an IB account and through Halifax except I assume larger comms. They use to clear through fortis and what is now ABN Amro.
Not sure why you say they aren't an approved futures broker? If Interactive Brokers is an approved broker then so is Halifax?
