NZ Govt will highly likely scupper the deal as they have said AIA is a strategic asset of national importance and so it must be controlled by NZers ... Canadians have said even though they may end up owning 40% they will only have voting power of 24.9% to try and placate the politicians ....
Shares have raced up this arvo indicating maybe the chances of success are viewed more highly today ( been a very hot topic over here ) .... sell to the offer at 359 and buy back on the market at 250 ( 225 this morning !! ) could be the trade going on at present.
Disc: hold 6500 ( bgt at 215 a week ago ) and have offered them to the canadians ... hope they are allowed to buy them !!!
Great investment at these levels either way ... very successful airport.
