I like your opinion about ESCONDIDA;

I asked Straws previously, now I would like to cut& paste & see if you concur:

"just a crude comparison between Escondida & Los Calatos.

"At mid 2007 Escondida had total proven and probable reserves of 34.7 million tonnes of copper of which 22.5 million tonnes is estimated to be recoverable. Total resources (including reserves) were 57.6 million tonnes of copper of which 33.0 million tonnes should be recovered. Exploration continues.[9]

or alternative expression is:
4860Mt @ 0.97%Cu as per annotated on colour coded geological map in MNC Annual Report.


Both the above statements seem about right to me as 1% of 4,860,000,000 is 48.8 Mt of copper.


So far JORC, Los Calatos is (as per Annual Report)

Revised total resources of 926,234,000 tonnes can be subdivided as follows (at a cut-off grade of 0.2% Cu):
? Indicated Resources 111,264,000 tonnes at 0.39% Cu and 380ppm (0.038%) Mo
? Inferred Resources 814,970,000 tonnes at 0.37% Cu and 260ppm (0.026%) Mo

Accordingly for Los Calatos:
443,929.60 tonnes of copper is indicated
3,015,389 tonnes copper is inferred.
which gives a total of
3,459,318 tonnes copper in Los Calatos from JORC calculations.

I suspect after comparing the above two statements the drilling will need to establish about 10 times more Cu in Los Calatos to get it up to Escondida size deposit. Straws am I out too much in my crude estimation.
I hope I am not boring people with:
1) what has already been thrashed in past posts & 2) something which is already out of date. I had better check with you Straws. Just like a getting a crude comparison between Escondida & Los Calatos.

Also Escondida is currently being mined & resource depleted. So I am not sure of measurements of resources along a timeline. Just want a crude comparison.
