Am over there (NZ) atm on a job. Everything seems to be ticking along as per usual in Auckland - people out and about in cafes etc. so doesn't appear to have flowed through as yet except for property agents and sharebrokers.
Property prices fell last year on average by only 6.8%, but the people seem to be predominantly single asset class holders, namely property. People still talk about 1987 and have never gone back to the sharemarket. Median property prices as a multiple of median wage is extremely high by world standards, but it is propped up by this housing focus...will be interesting to see if it comes down to the extent seen in the UK etc.
