ANZ Nominees is a custodian account. Lots of people ask for shares to be held in a Custodian account without giving up any ownership.
Sure ANZ can and has sold stuff in that account. The real question is though, who actually owns the shares in that account? that is what the legal battle will be about.
I would be thinking very hard about asking ANZ to be a Custodian for anything in the future. Why would anyone trust them again?
