Agree. I had shorted NAB since just after the ex-div date however after watching the market support at $38 at the end of Nov I closed out and went long.
This rubbish about the USA bank is a short term sentiment issue IMO, and will be quickly forgotten, particularly as the market is further informed of NAB plans to expand their Ag banking in the USA. The silly thing is that the Great Western Bank doesn't even write their own mortgages let alone have any subprime. Maybe the price was a little high however sometimes you have to spend money to make money and getting a solid foot in the door is important.
At NAB PE of 16 (considering CBA is trading at around PE 17.5), share price will be $43. PE of 17 = SP of $45.73....I would expect the SP to recover to within this range soon.
Many will have shorted NAB and those that have not exited their trade yet will do so soon IMO.
