Apply online and provide your drivers license number and expiry date for the id check. I was up and running on CommSec IRESS instantly once the account creation process was completed.
Once you have the CommSec account (and if you want it a CBA settlement account) setup you will have to transfer your existing shares over to Commsec. If they are broker sponsored you use a form, and if they are issuer sponsored it can be done online as long as the names and addresses match you CommSec account details exactly.
CommSec support staff are pretty helpful on the phone as well and they can talk you through the process if necessary.
