Forget the politicians IMO. I just don't have the mentality to deal with them and most are self serving in reality IMO.
Go direct to bank CEO and get a response and some action . They have a heightened need to respond at the minute and that is unusual.
I do keep old accounts open purely if circumstances change as just too much agony and time to reopen from scratch.. Not hard to manage and if no account fees and as you have just seen it is not hard or slow to get $ back in . I just transfer an amount in and out every 6 months so I know it is active or leave a long term holding in if there is a minimum value.
