Pretty sure ANZ put the comb over AMP about 2 years back but decided not to then so cant see them changing their mind now particularly with the ING deal recently.
I havent heard what happened to the other RBS assets that ANZ were not originally keen on but came up on offer when the deal fell through with another bank......anyone else know?
If it was local I would be thinking general banking ie. BOQ or Suncorps Banking arm (without the insurance).
Personally I think ANZ would be more likely to spend money O/S ie. the wider more remote areas of China, Asia & maybe India.
Interesting to see another new appointment at ANZ with Anne W now taking the tole of Chief Information Officer. Perhaps money will also be spent on better information systems and technology at ANZ? Smithy did come from HSBC after all which was pretty advanced in Asia in terms of technology.
