ANZ have accomplished a half-billion successful short sale of the market !
ANZ have borrowed 800m worth of stock from Opes, and then sold it. Now their close-out position on the stock borrowing contracts gets netted off on October 15 same as all the rest. ANZ only has to return the current value of the shares which it borrowed - much less than what they actually sold the shares for.
Easy to say this !ANZ have accomplished a half-billion...
